[Easy English Blog] Half marathon

Yesterday, I ran the distance of a half marathon. It was my first time to run so far. I usually run 10 or 15km, but this time, I wanted to see if I could run farther. I belong to a running club. The other members of the club take part in half marathon and full marathon races. I have never taken part in an event. I want to take part in one this year, though.

There are a few half marathon races in the area where I live. There is one in March, and one in autumn. I want to try the one in March, but I don’t think I am fast enough. I think the event has a time limit. It took me two and a half hours to run half a marathon. Maybe this is too slow. I need to run faster.

I’m going to try and run a half marathon every week. I usually go running twice a week, so one day I will run 10 or 15km, and the other day I will run a half marathon. It will be good training for me.

In the future, I’d like to run a full marathon, but first, I’ll focus on getting a better time for the half marathon. How about you? Do you like running? How far do you usually run?

[Easy English Blog] No snow yet

photography of trees covered with snow

We usually get snow in this area of Japan in January. So far, it has been quite warm, and there has been no snow. We have very little snow last year too. It only snowed for a few days last winter.

I don’t like the snow. I don’t like driving when the roads are covered with snow and ice. A few years ago, the snow was so heavy it took me an hour to dig my car out of the snow in the mornings. That year had the heaviest snowfall for around 30 years. Once, during that period, I got stuck in the middle of the road and couldn’t move. Someone brought a shovel to help dig my car out. Since then, in winter, I always carry a shovel in my car.

Around ten years ago over the New Year, the snow was so heavy that there were power cuts, and we had no electricity on New Year’s Eve. It was very cold!

Everyone changed their car tires to snow tires at the end of last year. We expect some snow, but at the moment, it is around 9 degrees and there doesn’t seem to be any snow on the way. Maybe we will get some snow in February. I hope it is not heavy like a few years ago.

How about you? Is it snowing where you are?
